One recent submission tells of a man piloting a vintage plane over the Kentucky mountains when heavy weather gathered. Minutes before, he’d discovered that the cockpit instruments had failed. Once socked in, he was literally flying blind on a wing and a prayer.
What looked to end in tragedy resolved with a scene worthy of a “Cecil B. DeMille Bible movie,” the pilot recalled. The clouds parted briefly to reveal the sun reflecting off the river below. He dove beneath the cloudbank and followed the river to the airport he’d been searching for.
But God’s work was not finished. Soon as the plane touched down, the engine died. The pilot praises God for showing the way to terra firma and with perfect timing.
While plenty have a Hollywood ending, other stories resolve more quietly but just as profoundly. And all are powerful, real-world examples of God’s grace in action.
